Leave the past in the past! You won’t progress in life if you’re dragging old habits around with you. If you keep trying the same thing over and over again, and you’re not getting the results that you want, maybe it’s time to try something new. Think of it like diet and exercise. Some diets won't work for you, just like some exercises work better for other people than they will for you. It’s all about figuring out what works, rather than doing the same old thing and becoming disappointed every time you don’t get results.
In order to move forward in your life, you need to learn to embrace change. Sometimes, you can get so caught up in sticking with the things that you know, that you wind up afraid of venturing out of your comfort zone. It’s easy to stay with what’s familiar, but you have to learn to let go of familiarity and let yourself embrace the new and the unknown. You need to allow yourself to be open to new ideas and new ways of thinking. You're stuck where you are right now because of familiarity. Maybe you're making excuses as to why you haven't tried something new. Maybe you're afraid that it won't work out in the end. The thing is, you never know until you try!
I have a coffee mug, one I've had for years, it has a saying on it that goes well with this post. It says, "Great things never came from comfort zones." It's a reminder to myself every morning that if I want to achieve great things, I need to get out there and try something new. We should always be open to trying out new things!
If you find yourself getting frustrated with a lack of change in your life, maybe you need to evaluate what exactly you're doing. Find patterns, look for negative habits. Maybe there's something that you're repeating that you need to stop; maybe there's something better out there that you can replace it with. Let go of your fear of change and new things. Let yourself be open to growth and positive changes in your life. Old ways won't open new doors, so put down the crowbar and start looking for the keys.
