Life has a funny way of making things happen. Sometimes the expectations that you had for something didn’t work out exactly as you had thought in the end, and sometimes the worst-case scenario never even happens and you’re instead gifted with something wonderful. The thing is, life is full of surprises, so we shouldn’t expect our own expectations to be written in stone; everything is changeable and everything is temporary. The situation that you find yourself in now won’t be the way that you’re living forever. There is always hope, and there is always something better out there.
Don’t think about all of the bad things that could go wrong; put them out of your mind. You shouldn’t get too caught up in all of life’s “what-ifs,” but you should instead shift your mindset to simply accept what is and what will be. Things can change in an instant, so something to help keep your mind from worrying too much is to tell yourself “what will be will be.” Whatever happens, happens! Go with the flow of life; control the things that you can and let go of the things that you can’t. You’ll find yourself drowning fairly quickly if you continuously try to go against the flow of life, so let go, and let the waves of life take you to wherever you need to be.
There are some things that you can’t change, however, and those are the things that you should simply let go of. If a situation comes up and you don’t like the end-result and you’re capable of changing the outcome, do so! Change what you can, and leave what you can’t. There are times where it can feel like life has just dealt you a bad hand, but if there’s nothing that you can do to change it, let it come and go. It can be scary and sometimes frustrating to know that you won’t be able to control every aspect of your life, but you need to learn to relinquish that control when something happens that you cannot change, and let life be life. C’est la vie, as they say in France. “Such is life.”
Learning to let go of the things that you can’t control can be challenging. We all want to be in control over the situations in our lives, but the truth is, we won’t always be able to have that control. Go with the flow of life to the best of your ability, make changes where you can, and let go of the reins when you can’t. Living a happy life means learning when to let go of the things that you can’t control. Don’t stress yourself out over the things that are beyond your control. If you can’t change them, put them out of your mind. Go with the flow, and what will be will be.
