Routines are Good, but in Moderation

They say that old habits die hard, but what happens when those habits aren’t all that good for you? What if you find yourself spiraling into a pit of bad choices and even worse habits for your life? There is actually a psychological explanation for this! The thing is, the bad habits that you have are familiar to you. Your brain knows what it is and what to expect out of it, so it clings on to that.

We are programmed to hold onto familiarity; this is why we stick to routines and don’t like when they get thrown off course. Just because something is familiar to you, however, doesn’t mean that it’s doing you any good. Even though you might be used to things being a certain way, that doesn’t mean that they should be that way. You have the power to change the way things run in your life, so why not use your power to change things for the better?

You shouldn’t fall back into familiarity if it costs you your health and wellbeing. You should instead try to find a good habit that can counteract the bad one. This also goes for your routine as well! Maybe you were on a health kick and ended up falling off the wagon. This is your sign to hop back on! It’s not too late to get back in the saddle and try again!

Now is the perfect time to take up a new habit or hobby to get your mind off of falling back into your old ways. There will always be another opportunity to start something new or to pick up a healthy habit in your life. Routine and familiarity are good in moderation, but you shouldn’t live every single day doing the exact same things over and over again. Repetition is a mind killer.

Try something new today! Pick up a new healthy habit or a skill that you want to learn to help break free from the repetitiveness. You weren’t born to spend every day doing the same stuff; you were meant to get out there and experience life to the fullest! Break free from the mundane and go do something new and adventurous! Your mind will thank you for a break from the same old, same old.

Let Go of the Past and Embrace Change

Leave the past in the past! You won’t progress in life if you’re dragging old habits around with you. If you keep trying the same thing over and over again, and you’re not getting the results that you want, maybe it’s time to try something new. T hink of it like diet and exercise. Some diets won't work for you, just like some exercises work better for other people than they will for you. It’s all about figuring out what works, rather than doing the same old thing and becoming disappointed every time you don’t get results. In order to move forward in your life, you need to learn to embrace change. Sometimes, you can get so caught up in sticking with the things that you know, that you wind up afraid of venturing out of your comfort zone. It’s easy to stay with what’s familiar, but you have to learn to let go of familiarity and let yourself embrace the new and the unknown. You need to allow yourself to be open to new ideas and new ways of thinking. You're stuck where you are righ...

Don't Allow Your Fears To Control Your Life

Everyone has something that they are afraid of—you, me, everyone! It’s not shameful to have these fears, but you shouldn’t allow them to take precedent over your life. Things only have power over you because you give them that power. If your fears are starting to hold you back from living the life that you want, then you need to rethink how you view those fears and learn to break past them in order to move on. Your limitations are only limitations because you allow them to be. You are capable of so much more than you give yourself credit for, so don’t allow yourself to be brought down by your fears just because you’re worried that you won’t be able to overcome them. You can do anything that you put your mind to, and if that involves overcoming your fears, then you will be able to do just that! When you choose to avoid your fears and not face them, you open yourself up to even more fear, as well as limitations on your abilities. Facing your fears allows you to break free of the restrict...
