Sunday Sunshine / Cinco de Mayo

Happy Sunday, everyone! Happy Cinco de Mayo to you as well! I don't know what y'all have planned, but my plans today involve nothing with a chance of drinking. I'll probably make my way down to Taco Mundo later this evening for tacos, of course, and for one—or two—of their margaritas, which are absolutely incredible. I'm just going to take today to relax and count the things that I'm grateful for, which is what the Sunday Sunshine series is all about!

Like I mentioned in yesterday's post, there are so many things in life that we take for granted that we could be thankful for. I'm going to kick off this Sunday Sunshine post with something that I'm thankful for that I'm sure we all take for granted if we have it—the ability to have a relaxing day without worries. I'm not homeless, I'm not starving, and I pay all of my bills on time—I'd say I'm pretty well-off!

While there have been things and situations in my life that have been hard, I am choosing to look past them and focus on all of the good that I have in my life instead. I can't undo what has been done, but I have learned many lessons in my near-quarter-century of being alive that I trust I will be able to make better decisions in the future.

I still make mistakes even today; we all do, and we all will, but what matters is that we learn from them and choose to do better the next time around. I'm thankful for the mistakes that I have made because they allowed me to grow into the person that I am today. There are things that I would have done differently, sure, but I can't change them; I can only live with them, so live with them I shall.

This Sunday is all about gratitude and the things that you and I are thankful for. I've listed a few of mine, but I want to know yours! Let me know in the comments what y'all are thankful for. It doesn't matter how small or insignificant you may think it is; if it makes you happy, it's something to be grateful for. May the revenge of the sixth pass you by, and may the Force be with you.

Let Go of the Past and Embrace Change

Leave the past in the past! You won’t progress in life if you’re dragging old habits around with you. If you keep trying the same thing over and over again, and you’re not getting the results that you want, maybe it’s time to try something new. T hink of it like diet and exercise. Some diets won't work for you, just like some exercises work better for other people than they will for you. It’s all about figuring out what works, rather than doing the same old thing and becoming disappointed every time you don’t get results. In order to move forward in your life, you need to learn to embrace change. Sometimes, you can get so caught up in sticking with the things that you know, that you wind up afraid of venturing out of your comfort zone. It’s easy to stay with what’s familiar, but you have to learn to let go of familiarity and let yourself embrace the new and the unknown. You need to allow yourself to be open to new ideas and new ways of thinking. You're stuck where you are righ...

Don't Allow Your Fears To Control Your Life

Everyone has something that they are afraid of—you, me, everyone! It’s not shameful to have these fears, but you shouldn’t allow them to take precedent over your life. Things only have power over you because you give them that power. If your fears are starting to hold you back from living the life that you want, then you need to rethink how you view those fears and learn to break past them in order to move on. Your limitations are only limitations because you allow them to be. You are capable of so much more than you give yourself credit for, so don’t allow yourself to be brought down by your fears just because you’re worried that you won’t be able to overcome them. You can do anything that you put your mind to, and if that involves overcoming your fears, then you will be able to do just that! When you choose to avoid your fears and not face them, you open yourself up to even more fear, as well as limitations on your abilities. Facing your fears allows you to break free of the restrict...

Fire It Up Friday

Happy Friday! Y'all know what time it is! It's that time of the week where we list the things that we look forward to; it's Fire It Up Friday! There is so much in life to look forward to, so let's help each other out by naming the things that we're excited for. I'll start us off by saying that I'm excited to go to the beach tomorrow. Beach time is always a good time. I'm gonna have ice cream for lunch and hopefully hit plenty of waves! Life gives us so much to hope for; it's hard to see the bad when you're so focused on all of the good things headed your way. There's always something to be excited for, even if it's not your next concert or your next beach day; it can be as simple as waking up tomorrow morning to spend a relaxing day at home or being excited for your next cup of coffee. If it makes you happy, it's worth being excited for. Let everyone know what you're looking forward to in the comments. Have a great weekend, everyo...
